Otter Rock, Oregon

Getting There

For the shortest route from Portland:

  • Take 99W southwest to Newberg and McMinnville.
  • Take state highway 18 to the coast.
  • At Neotsu, the highway joins U.S. 101, and it
is 15 miles to Depoe Bay.
  • Two miles beyond Depoe Bay, look for the
Otter Crest Loop, which leads directly to the entrance of The Inn.

In daytime, allow leisure time to stop at the frequent turnouts between Depoe Bay and Otter Crest.  Along this stretch, the highway hugs the coastal cliffs and rises, at one point, to 450 feet above the sea.  The turnout nearest The Inn offers the best view.  It leads
to a Coast Guard station where a vantage point looks directly down upon Otter Rock, rooftops of The Inn,
and the magnificent coast beyond.

An alternate route is :

  • I-5 South to Highway 34 (Corvallis exit).
  • Turn right and head west to Corvallis.
  • Take Highway 20 exit and head west to Newport.
  • At Newport, turn right onto U.S. 101 and head north.
  • It is approximately 8 miles to Otter Rock.
  • Take the Otter Crest Loop exit and proceed
    to the resort.
