Otter Rock, Oregon

Your Royal Aloha Vacation Club condominium at Otter Crest offers an escape from the ordinary.

The resort is located amidst a 35-acre evergreen forest and sits above a stretch of coast discovered by Captain James Cook in 1778. Capt. Cook named the region Cape Foulweather, but The Inn’s mailing address is Otter Rock (a tiny town with just a fire station and a school).

The Inn at Otter Crest is oriented to the sea and surrounded by natural wonders.

Relax in this tranquil setting with the Royal Aloha Vacation Club on Oregon’s Central Coast.

Activities & Attractions

The Central Oregon Coast abounds with scenic and recreational attractions.

A favorite activity at The Inn at Otter Crest is to descend the cliff, via a long flight of stairs, to discover the beach below. It’s a great place for beachcombing, hunting for shells, crabs and clams (ah…the “treasures” often hidden in the sand).

Above the sandy beach is an undisturbed evergreen forest with many hiking trails. A lovely footpath from The Inn leads to the Devil’s Punch Bowl State Park, a popular whale-watching site and picnic area atop the rocky shoreline. At the Cape Foulweather Observation Point, white sea lions, murres, cormorants, and other sea birds can be seen resting on the offshore rocks.

Nearby towns – Depoe Bay, Lincoln City, and Newport – offer quaint restaurants, art galleries, antique and craft shops, winery tours, and deep-sea fishing charters. The Oregon Coast Aquarium and the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport showcase the beauty and diversity of sea life.

Oregon’s picturesque coastline beckons you to indulge your love of nature!

Getting There

For the shortest route from Portland:

  • Take 99W southwest to Newberg and McMinnville.
  • Take State Highway 18 to the coast.
  • At Neotsu, the highway joins U.S. 101, and it is 15 miles to Depoe Bay.
  • Two miles beyond Depoe Bay, look for the Otter Crest Loop, which leads directly to the entrance of The Inn.
  • In daytime, allow leisure time to stop at the frequent turnouts between Depoe Bay and Otter Crest. Along this stretch, the highway hugs the coastal cliffs and, at one point, rises to 450 feet above the sea. The turnout nearest The Inn offers the best view. It leads to a Coast Guard station where a vantage point looks directly down upon Otter Rock, rooftops of The Inn, and the magnificent coast beyond.

An alternate route is :

  • I-5 South to Highway 34 (Corvallis exit).
  • Turn right and head west to Corvallis.
  • Take Highway 20 exit and head west to Newport.
  • At Newport, turn right onto U.S. 101 and head north.
  • It is approximately 8 miles to Otter Rock.
  • Take the Otter Crest Loop exit and proceed to the resort.
