ROYAL ALOHA KONA
KEAUHOU-KONA SURF & RACQUET CLUB
Kailua-Kona, Hawai‘i

Your Royal Aloha condominium is located at the Keauhou-Kona Surf & Racquet Club, just a few miles south of Kailua-Kona, on the island’s sunny leeward coast. The area’s deep-sea fishing grounds are world-renowned. A favorite playground for residents and vacationers alike, the Kona Coast is drier and sunnier, perfect weather for growing rich coffee and macadamia nuts.

The “Big Island” is the youngest and largest island of the Hawaiian chain. Born more than 25 million years ago, powerful volcanoes still spew fiery lava into the sea adding new acreage. Five volcanic mountains, two of which are still active, make up the island’s 4,000 square miles.

It is an island of many contrasts: parched, barren lava fields and hillsides abloom with wild orchids and exotic flowers; cool uplands and lush rain forests with breathtaking waterfalls; busy tourist towns and quiet villages where church services are held in the Hawaiian language.

Activities & Attractions

A few contented souls never venture beyond the Kailua-Kona area. Most visitors, however, are eager to experience the Big Island of Hawai’i. It boasts two of the world’s most active volcanoes – Kilauea and Mauna Loa – and dormant Mauna Kea is actually taller than Mount Everest when measured from its base on the ocean floor! Drive the rugged Ka’u Coast to the Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park.

Some of the island’s most spectacular scenery is north of Kona. Along the Kohala Coast, the verdant hills of the countryside roll down to the ocean where you’ll find some of the island’s best swimming beaches.

Catch your breath in the small ranch towns of Waimea and Kamuela before continuing around the Hamakua Coast to Hilo. Stop at the Waipio Valley Lookout, Akaka Falls State Park, and the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden to see huge monkeypod trees and more than 1,000 species of plants.

Another scenic drive takes you south of Kailua-Kona to Pu’uhonua o Honaunau’s historical monument at Kealakekua Bay. A few miles and a few lava flows beyond is the City of Refuge National Historic Park.

Back at your Royal Aloha condominium, there are tennis courts, a swimming pool, and barbecue areas at the Keauhou-Kona Surf & Racquet Club. It’s fun to go to the Kailua pier and watch the fishing fleet glide in with the day’s catch around 4:00 p.m. It’s even more fun to charter a fishing boat and angle for your own big billfish!

When the sun goes down, enjoy an evening of fine dining and Hawaiian entertainment on the Kona Coast.

Getting There

Royal Aloha’s units are located in low-rise condominiums and townhouses at the Keauhou-Kona Surf & Racquet Club. It’s a 30-minute drive from Kona International Airport. Renting a car at the airport is the easiest way to see the Big Island as public transportation is very limited and taxis are expensive.

Leaving the airport:

  • Take a right onto Highway #19
  • Proceed to Kailua-Kona, then turn RIGHT onto Palani Road, which becomes Ali‘i Drive at Kailua Pier.
  • Continue south for five miles.
  • Just past the Keauhou Beach Hotel, you will see the Keauhou-Kona Surf & Racquet Club on your RIGHT.
